ISLAND IN BETWEEN: THE JOSH SYMON FILM PROJECT

A creative powerhouse, Josh Symon’s resume reads like a recipe for a nervous breakdown. Live TV editor for the World Cup and the Olympics, Photographer, Filmmaker, stuntman and Crossfit trainer, this man operates under extreme pressure at all times. Which is probably why he has created his new film project “Island in Between”. Referring to Bali’s position in the Indonesian archipelago, Island in Between was created as a way to get his Indonesian surfing friends in better touch with the fantastic world that surrounds them. It is easy for local surfers like Corok and Nyoman Satria to get comfortable in their world here in Bali, so Symon has organized a series of ongoing road trips designed to create a better understanding of what it truly means to be an Indonesian surfer. A way for surfers from all islands to get to know each other better, discover their country, find unity, island by island, wave by wave.

Dropping his episodes on Instagram, Symon, the director, writer, producer, still photographer and video cameraman in and out of the water, still somehow finds the time inform his surfers and the project with true meaning. Exposing them to everything from Lombok Earthquake victims to perfect secret spots to environmental clean-ups, Symon’s motto is “getting surfers from the known into the unknown”. This “nothing behind me and everything before me” approach being an answer to the question “How can I make my surfing life have more purpose?” Catch it on instagram and Stay tuned for more.
